Impacts of Spatial Interpolation Methods on Daily Streamflow Predictions with SWAT

چکیده
Precipitation is a significant input variable required in hydrological models such as the Soil & Water Assessment Tool (SWAT). The utilization of inaccurate precipitation data can result poor representation true hydrologic conditions catchment. SWAT utilizes conventional nearest neighbor method assigning weather parameters for each subbasin; representing spatial variations over large area, with sparse network gauging stations. Therefore, this study aims to improve variation daily streamflow simulation SWAT, even pre-model calibration. based on four interpolation methods, (default), inverse-distance-weight, radial-basis function, and ordinary kriging, were evaluated determine which best represents at Yongdam watershed. Based results study, application methods generally improved performance simulate In addition, no universal accurately represent long-term Instead, it was observed that optimal selection watershed dependent climatological It also certain meteorological watershed: cases when occurrence probability extreme high during wet moderately conditions; function number dry days high, wet, severely dry, extremely kriging or inverse-weight-distance conditions. methodology applied simulations watershed, calibration SWAT.

متن کاملComparison of Daily and Sub-Daily SWAT Models for Daily Streamflow Simulation in the Upper Huai River Basin of China
Despite the significant role of precipitation in the hydrological cycle, few studies have been conducted to evaluate the impacts of the temporal resolution of rainfall inputs on the performance of SWAT (soil and water assessment tool) models in large-sized river basins. In this study, both daily and hourly rainfall observations at 28 rainfall stations were used as inputs to SWAT for daily strea...

متن کاملInfluence of Scale on SWAT Model Calibration for Streamflow
The Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was implemented in the 281,000 ha St. Joseph River Watershed (SJRW) to investigate the influence of multiple scales on stream flow model calibration parameters (Fig.1). The relationship between model calibration parameters and associated hydrological response units (HRU) between different scales is not well understood. In this investigation, two scales were...
